Code of Ethics
The Standards of Membership
We, the PoE Consortium, recognize the impact of our values and choices in the development and propagation of new technologies. Individually and collectively we accept the obligation to maintain the highest ethical and professional conduct, therefore we shall:
- Maintain a professional conduct in all business and consortium interactions.
- Protect and enhance the reputation of the PoE Consortium and the accreditation program for manufacturers and contractors.
- Not misrepresent nor willingly allow others to represent or use PoE Consortium accreditation.
- Avoid misrepresentation or misstatement of any other individual’s qualifications, abilities or accomplishments.
- Adhere to relevant codes, laws, and accepted industry standards.
- Be accurate and truthful in my dealings and not misrepresent the quality, availability or ability of the services for my company and myself.
- Respect a client’s decision in the selection of competitive services and continue to offer and provide that client with quality services, when requested.
- Maintain the confidentiality of privileged information entrusted to me and in accordance with all applicable laws and/or agreements.
- Avoid unlawful conduct in professional activities, and reject bribery in all its forms.
- Accurately, honestly, and truthfully present all educational material.
- Hold paramount, the safety, health, and welfare of the public and individuals.
- Strive to comply with ethical design and sustainable development practices, to protect the privacy of others, and to promptly disclose factors that might endanger the public or the environment.
- Treat all persons fairly and with respect, and to not engage in discrimination based on characteristics such as race, religion, gender, disability, age, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression.
- Report and refrain from false and misleading statements or malicious actions that might injure another person’s reputation or bring harm to their person or property.
- Avoid and report any harassment of any kind, including sexual harassment or bullying behavior.
- Support colleagues and coworkers in following this code of ethics, to strive to ensure the code is upheld, and to not retaliate against individuals reporting a violation.
